We believe that strategic planning, when conducted effectively, supports an organization to implement programs, evaluate the work, develop and evolve activities to increase effectiveness over time.

Further, it institutionalizes organizational systems and processes to support the achievement of outcomes. In order for the strategic planning process to result in such a robust tool for on-going organizational planning and programmatic implementation, the strategic plan must be developed in an interactive process engaging key staff, stakeholders and board. Our facilitative process will engage multiple learning styles and stimulate creative possibility thinking.

In addition to facilitation, our field expertise supports staff teams to develop insightful and powerful strategies to meet strategic priorities through consulting and coaching, to ensure this process results in a clear, concise plan that is easily messaged to the community and stakeholders. As a result of this process organizations become more strategically aligned to its mission and deepen its outcomes for youth and their families.

We engage organizations in a 3-phase approach.

Phase 1: Connect

  • Survey constituents (staff, board, funders, constituents) to assess how you are perceived in the field
  • Work with staff to create a shared understanding and motivation behind the vision, and mission and theory of change of the organization
  • Generate strategies that connect research findings to targeted outcomes

Phase 2: Deepen

  • Develop the organization’s "strategic story" to tie short, mid, and long term outcomes to an operational calendar and evaluation metrics
  • Engage the board for input and to establish critical support roles

Phase 3: Institutionalize

  • Write the plan
  • Develop a simple messaging strategy
  • Support the executive team to roll out the plan
  • Establish periodic check points to evaluate and evolve the plan
